- Associate photographers / videographers / content creators (team growth) from Benjamin Holthaus
Little bit of a long post, TLDR; I'm hiring Photographers, Videographers, Content creators. Yes, I'm a “big wedding company” hiring associates. Here's why we're not the kind you've been warned about. If you've been shooting weddings for a while, you already know the horror stories. Companies that don't pay their shooters, work-for-hire contracts that take your copyright, gigs that pay in “exposure,” or couples who get a photographer they’ve never met. So I get why people are skeptical. I've spent the last three years pushing Promani to be the best company I can possibly make it. One thing I've realized recently is that I've been telling people we're different, and we are, but from the outside it's honestly pretty hard to tell. You see “ISO photographer for XYZ date” and it looks exactly like everyone else's post. The people who join us usually see the difference pretty quickly. So I wanted to actually explain what you're joining: • $100/hr to start, with a four-tier path up to $125/hr. Real raises, not “opportunities.” • Payment terms are written directly into your contract. Direct deposit within 14 days of upload + invoice, although it's usually much sooner. I've paid my team over $800,000 over the last few years and have never failed to pay what was owed. • You can use the work you shoot for us yourself, with expanded usage rights as you move through the tiers. • No non-competes. • You actually meet your couples before the wedding. They know how our associate model works and are hiring us because they trust the process. • Travel is compensated. An average 8-hour wedding + engagement session usually puts an associate around $1,100–$1,300 after pay and travel. • No culling. No editing. Work with your couple, Shoot, upload, and you're done. • We have our own in-house server, so no messing around with Dropbox or Google Drive. • You'll get first access to the custom wedding CRM I've been building from the ground up. • There is an actual advancement structure. Tier 4 associates will have a seat at the table twice a year and a voice in company policy and direction. And this isn't me looking for someone to fill a random date. I'm trying to grow a team of people who actually want to be here and grow with the company. Photographers, videographers, and content creators. Honestly, attitude matters more to me than having a perfect résumé. Be reliable, low ego, good with people, care about your couples, and actually want to get better. That will take you pretty far with us. The hiring process is pretty simple: Send me your portfolio and gear list. If the style and equipment are a match, I'll reach out for an interview. If that goes well, I'll ask permission to run a background check. Assuming everything checks out, you'll start as a Tier 1 associate. If your portfolio isn't quite there yet, I may offer you a mentee position and help you get there. And if you're completely new to weddings, that's okay too. I’m happy to train you for free. You just won't be leading weddings for me until you're ready. I'm trying to build something here that I genuinely believe can become the best and largest wedding media company in the country. That only works if the people actually doing the work are treated well. If that sounds like something you'd want to be a part of, comment below with the best way to contact you and I'll reach out for your portfolio and gear list. Looking forward to seeing who is out there.
